Blanco is a fairly friendly orangutan and very very strong. On one occasion, he tried to steal my pool towel - luckily I'm stronger and I showed him who was boss, after the bout he spit banana particles at me in frustration.

Those poor animals. This hotel is disgraceful for housing animals in such conditions and making them perform for tourists. And shame on you for supporting them!

El propósito de este blog es dar a conocer la historia del orangután Blanco e incentivar la gente a hacer lo que mas puedan para su liberación, pero así como el bienestar de los animales nuestro deber como habitantes del planeta es cuidarlo y conservarlo para las generaciones futuras, tanto de personas como de todos los animales habitantes de la tierra.
Hoy en día los orangutanes pueden ser encontrados solamente en Sumatra y en la isla de Borneo. Solo quedan unos pocos y en 10 años habrán desaparecido. Esa es la razón por lo que los orangutanes son una especie protegida y está totalmente prohibido retenerlos o capturarlos en un zoologico privado o un hotel.
BLANCO, es un orangutan bebe que fue capturado y lleva 5 años viviendo en un zoologico privado de un hotel de Lovina, en la isla de Bali. Está allí como elemento puramente decorativo en el “Melkia Excelsior Hotel”. No tiene plantas, ni arboles y su entorno es muy hostil.

Nowadays, orangutans can be only found in Sumatra and Borneo. There remain only a few thousand, and in 10 years they will have dissapeared. That’ s why the orangutans are a protected species, and it’ s totally forbidden to keep one in captivity, in a Private zoo, or in a Hotel.
Blanco, a young ortangutan is living captive for more than 5 years in an artificial environment in a hotel Privete Zoo cage, in lovina, Bali. He is kept purely as a decorative element in “Melka Excelsior Hotel”. He has no plants, trees, and his environment is very hostil.

UPDATE on BLANKO
Dear Supporters,
We are writing to give you the latest information of the plight of Blanko the Orangutan held at the Melke Hotel in Lovina, Bali. Many thanks for expressing an interest in helping Blanko.
We can now confirm that Blanko has been handed over to the authorities by Pak Kalle, the owner of the hotel. Blanko has been sent to the new Bali Safari Park. SOS had been in delicate negotiations with Pak Kalle, and had offered to financially support Blanko’s repatriation to Kalimantan, and rehabilitation through the Nyaru Menteng Rescue Centre, operated by the Borneo Orangutan Survival Foundation. Unfortunately this offer has not been accepted, despite the fact that the centre was ready to accept Blanko, and could have offered him a chance of returning to the forest.
A sunbear and a langur monkey were also handed over to the authorities at the same time as Blanko. SOS Bali will be keeping an eye on the conditions under which Blanko is kept in the Safari Park.
