Luang Prabang

Once again it has taken an extremely long time to finally post some photos of our S.E. Asian travels- it has been very difficult to find internet cafes with true high speed internet access. Here are some more pics of Luang Prabang, which is in west central Laos - I'll be sure to write a bit more on the other towns, Luang Prabang is simple enough that the pictures can tell most of the tale.

Every morning the monks walk through the center of the town on their way to the temple.

Luang Prabang's daily market

One of the main streets in Luang Prabang - you can see that some of the buildings still have French colonial architectual elements to them

Here we stand on top of a mountain hosting Wat That Phu Si - the view was quite impressive up here except for the haze that was covering the region due to prescribed burning.

Here's the actual Wat

Another temple within the city of Luang Prabang - a significant difference in their temples vs. those of Thailand lies in their roofs, which are layered.

Kwang Xi Waterfalls - about 30 minutes outside the city of Luang Prabang - from this massive waterfall there sprung hundreds of little ones creating various swimming holes down below.

Part of the staircase leading up to the top of the falls

The top view of the waterfall

After the falls our driver stopped at a small village and ended up buying his dinner for the night from the local kids - I'm glad I wasn't invited over.
