Cameron Highlands - Malaysia

The best way to beat the heat in Malaysia is to take a trip up to the fertile Cameron Highlands, Malaysia's premier tea country. While very very small production wise in comparison to big daddy India, this place still manages to make quite a load of tea.

Here's beloved Fathers Guest House made up of old British military style barracks - bad on the outside, but fairly clean on the inside.

Malaysia & Singapore

Malaysia is much more orderly place than its neighbors - namely they're courteous drivers and they follow basic traffic regulations, but sadly its much more expensive place to visit.

Melaka in the 15th century was the greatest trading port of SE Asia. Its loaded to the hilt with colonial architecture.

A trishaw is the most popular way to tour the city of Melaka. The captains of these pedal driven rides are in constant competition to have the brightest loudest machines. The one we're in is about as good as it gets + he had quite the sound system.

Singapore was the cleanest city I've ever set foot in & also had the best transportation systems I've used. Its greatest downfall was its cost - budget traveling in Singapore means shelling out the same amount of dough that would buy you servants and caviar any where else in the Orient.

Most expensive burger of my life - $20 us bones - can you see the tears welling up in my eyes

If you come to Singapore you have to drink a Singapore Sling - The Long Bar is where this drink was created.

Primitive air conditioning - these fans slowly move back and forth through some kind of old belt system - they're very effective at pushing hot air all over the room

Sentosa Island a few hundred meters off the coast of Singapore is major weekend haunt for locals. It has beaches, a historical fort, an aquarium, a theme park, and of course pink dolphins.

Their entire bodies are pink when they are younger, but just like humans they get grayer as they get older.
